About

Hi, I'm Taylor.

I spent nearly ten years in classrooms and school leadership. Over and over I saw schools working hard on answers to the wrong questions. Learning V. School is where I work on better ones.

I taught Algebra through Calculus at Waggener and Atherton high schools in Louisville and at Culver Academies, then led innovation and design at Christchurch School, where I ran the MakerSpace and chaired the math department. I've taught advanced students for Johns Hopkins CTY and Murray State's Commonwealth Honors Academy, and research methods to school leaders at Bellarmine.

From 2021 I helped build Cignition, an inquiry-based group tutoring company, as program manager and co-director of curriculum and instruction. Today I'm an analytics translator at Sysco and build AI coaching tools for tutors at Cignition.

I hold a PhD in Education Sciences (educational leadership) from the University of Kentucky, an MA in Education from Western Kentucky University and a BS in Mathematics with a minor in music from Murray State. I'm finishing an MS in Data Science at Eastern University. My dissertation looked at how teachers informally lead technology change in their schools.

Learning V. School started in 2018 as a blog I wrote with Joshua J. S. Marsh, PhD. His posts are still here, under his name. I live in Houston, Texas.
